I agree with Kelley.

And one other thing...are you sure it's not just the winter coat that the horse is losing?

A little more detail would be needed. Where is the hair loss how often is the horse brushes and bathed is the horse out in the rain, have you done a scraping of the skin to test for fungus!!

There are many reasons why horse loss their hair we need a little more detail or call your vet. Good luck

I would not jump to call a vet, half the time they have no clue and can make you horse worse. I had a vet who nearly ruined my top show horse, my farrier ended up helping my horse more then the vet. I also know of a woman in CT who was told by her vet that her horse died of frostbite...when it was 23 out. not vary bright. No what you should do is find a respectable horseman for something like hairloss, it wont cost you a fortune and they will give you better advice. it may also be ringworm. make sure your horse has a mineral block aswell, should help.

This is the right time of year for horses to be shedding their winter coats. If she is losing hair down to the skin and it is becoming raw then you have a problem and should call a vet or go to a local supply store and ask for product recommendations. Most likely this is not a major medical problem.

Check for a fungal condition called RAIN ROT. It is treated by adding iodine to shampoo. You can find products at a Horse supplier via catalogue, store or internet that addresses rain rot specifically that will contain the correct percentage of iodine and probably other medicines in the shampoo. My horse got rainrot when I first purchased him around April. So, this may just be the time of the year when it is in "season".

Well it is that time of the season where horses like alot of other animals shead their winter coat for their summer coat. Perhaps that is what is happening. If there is still hair on her (where the hair is coming out) then that is probably it. If she is getting bald spots (skin is showing and/or looks scabby) then you could have a few different issues. More details would be needed then.

Are you sure it's losing it's hair or is it shedding? Horses lose their winter hair this time of the year. If it's not shedding them call a vet. Good luck
