Just tell him firmly that you don't want to sleep with him and that if he treasures your friendship, then he should respect your decision. You mentioned that you are both guys but didn't say if you were gay, bi-sexual or heterosexual, so can't really understand what kind of friendship you are having with him and what you mean when you say you like him as a friend to the extend that you do not want ot lose his friendship.
Final advise: If you don't want to and he still keep pestering, it's time to run. Better to lose a friend than to get violated, uh!

No one should be pressuring anyone into having sex. Having sex when you are ready is most important. Not to mention sex with another man...
I suggest you talk to your friend and tell him you are not interested. Besides for some reason I got a feeling that he is going to tell to take a hike after he gets you in the sack. He sounds like a creep...ditch him before you do something you will regret.

Tell him straight up that he's a great mate and you don't want to lose him as a friend BUT you have no intentions of sleeping with him. Don't beat around the bush. Say it straight up or the effect is not the same

The only reason you should have sex is because you want to. You need to be honest with this guy and let him know that you are not into him. Tell him that you just want to be his friend and nothing more. You should never feel pressured to have sex and if you do feel under pressure than it isn't right. If he wont be your friend after telling him the truth, than he never really was your friend!

if he sees you as a possible conquest, I can't see how he can be a friend. Unless it is when he has had a drink or two.
Graham Norton, a gay comedian in the UK was asked the difference between a straight guy and a gay guy. He said "in my experience about eight pints of beer."
re answer above from Linkinpark - tell him you prefer to "beat about the bush" :)

Tell him that no means no, and that he needs to accept than not everyone wants to sleep with him.
Tell him that it's going to drive you away from him entirely if he doesn't get a clue.
If he keeps pestering you, he isn't a friend.
(I would have said the same, whatever your sex -- it's always wrong to pressure someone.)

Don't do it man, you may feel violated for years. I am dealing with a lovely young lady who did that just for the first time, and now I am trying to help her get her real self back. You are playing with fire my friend, that is not normal. G

As soon as you do it, the friendship will be OVER anyways. Don't do it. NEVER have sex for the wrong reasons! You should care very deeply for EACH other and NOT in a friendship sort of way!! Think!!...se.xually trans.mitted diseases. Thousands of them! SAY HELL NO!

never ever do anything youre not happy with, or get pressured into anything, if he values your friendship, then he should respect your wishes, if he's pressurising you, what sort of friend is he? if you lose him because you won't sleep with him, you'll be better of without him, trust me
