Why would your engaged friend say that your crush is taken(not her fiance, someone else) but your crush and all his friends say he's single??

Could be a few reasons. She could simply be misinformed. She could know that hes a jerk, and doesn't want you to get involved and hurt. Or there is another reason - don't tell any guys I told you this one, because its a huge secret, and I'll lose my membership to the Brotherhood of Men (sometimes reffered to as "manhood").
He could really be taken, but he and all his guy friends are lying so he can get into your pants. We do that sometimes.

Maybe she thought he was. Maybe he has more than one on the go. Maybe it was a misunderstanding.
