I can only hope that justice prevails and he ends up in jail first. Whether he reaches 756 or not, true baseball fans will never acknowledge anyone but Roger Maris and Hank Aaron as the true home run champions.

756 then prison.
If Bonds belonged to the player's union (I think he's the only major leaguer not in it) he would have little to worry about as their legal team is strong and financially secured. Perjury is a serious crime but if found guilty I would imagine any sentence will be commuted until he breaks the record. Anything less would result in an OJ like frenzy.
On the other topic, his attack of the home run record is remarkable with or without steroids. If all it took was steroids, then every bonehead at Gold's Gym would be in the big leagues. These guys were great hitters before anything was taken. Also, people seem to forget that these players who took them did so before it was deemed "illegal" by MLB. By banning them the source for an edge will continue to be sought in the form of something not on the banned list. The real danger is in the levels below, all the way down to high school. I'm afraid kids will think that steroids will provide them the advantage needed to "make it" and not realize how hard each and everyone of these guys worked to get to the top.
For many years dating back to at least the 1920's (when cociane was legal and considered "good for you") professional ballplayers have enhanced their games with boosting drugs. In the 50s and 60s it was "red juice" (amphetamine laced berry juice). In the 70s "greenies" (straight amphetamines) were pervasive and continue to this day. In football, a player can rarely make a season without masking pain with cortisone or serious painkillers. Runners sit in oxygen tents.
When all is said and done and the cheers go away, you may find these users old and decrepit before their time. Nobody will care about them then. The trade off is some fame, some money and a few gold digging women. To some it may seem worth it. Check back when they turn 55, can barely move and need Viagra to get out of bed in the morning.

My heavens, I by no potential have been flashed, yet I did by accident flash some individuals as quickly as. i replaced into interior the wellness midsection a while returned and desperate to take a stoll to the merchandising section. properly, I wasn't questioning approximately what i replaced into donning and, enable's merely say that those wellness midsection robes do not leave lots to the mind's eye on the backside. The nurse got here up from at the back of me and placed a blanket over my shoulders . . . i replaced into questioning why it replaced right into a sprint drafty returned there!

PRISON. Bonds is nothing without the steroids. We saw that lat season. He can still hit a couple out just becuase he bulked up so much in those years he was on them. I hope his knees give in on him where he can turn on a pitch so he'll have to retire and they can put an Rx beside the Numero 2 "hitter" on the all-time home run list.

756 is more likely. Its funny how no one said anything about arrests when "Big Mac" Mark McGwire broke the home run record. Coincidence? I think not.

756 and the fact that you will cheer when he does it too is more likely than him going to prison.
