Spanking vs Abuse?
I have been told, that spanking a child is abuse.
I have also been told that giving children what they want shows them how much I love them.

I think it depends on how hard the child is spanked to whether it is abuse or not. And giving in is not a good way to raise a child, it could promote bad behavior.

I don't believe that spanking is child abuse if it's used in the right way. If a child has done something wrong they need a spanking. Now if you just hit them because you're mad that's abuse. I think that kids need spankings to give them disipline. The one's who don't get spankings when they are wrong are the one's who get into trouble all the time because they know they can get away with it. As for the giving a child something they want it depends. If you give the child something to show them you love them that's great but if you give a child something everytime they bed for it or throw a big fit about it then they are spoiled children.

Spanking a child is not abuse, unless you intentionally physically hurt a child enough to leave marks, bruises, abrasions, and swelling. When we have intent to hurt a child in a cruel and unusual way we are commiting the crime of physical abuse to a child.
Sometimes our children need a little spanking in the butt to listen, time out doesnt work all the time. As a parent we should know the diffrence between right and wrong. If we overdue our spanking we should pay the price.

Giving your child everything he/she wants is something that we all as mothers tend to have. I give my son almost everything he wants but sometimes I dont have the money and I have to make him understand. Its natural to give them everything but it can spoil them and it hurts there behavior. I always reward my son when he has done good. I buy him what he wants if I get good grades, good behavior in return.

But again, a spank in the butt is not abuse, unless the intent to hurt the child and the visibility of the spanking is seen.
