You might try a midwestern (the middle part of our country!) college town. Less expensive then the bigger cities and you should easily find interesting things and people there.

The cheapest places to live are going to be (generally) in the south or midwest.... Many over 50 try Florida...which is cheaper and has a lot geared for active seniors. For museums and things of those interest you may be more interested in the North Eastern Part of the country. Anything inside of New York City (Or surrounding it) is getting very expensive. You may consider something like Philadelphia if you need to be in a city. Inside Center city Philadelphia is very expensive but you may be able to find housing near the city that is accessible to public transportation and affordable. It is a dificult question to answer without knowing your budget or standards.

Any where anymore. Try 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Ask for the butler George.

In the mid-west, ie. Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska, and the Dakotas-cost of living is low, people are friendly, there is a small town atmosphere in these places. Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, and Missouri all have mild climates.
