After reading this, I just get an itchy urge to go up there and pop that dome with a needle.

Anyway, this story is a "non story" as nothing is likely to happen to it for decades, or centuries. Its just another panick mongering piece?

The dome is not a hollow bubble, but rather a solid bulge of rock with lava pushing it up and out from below, so you can't pop it. It's a fun idea, though. I don't think the article was panic-mongering at all, because it states very clearly that there is no immediate threat and the volcano is expected to continue its very slow and harmless eruption at the current pace.

You might ask the 57 people who died in the first eruption exactly how much is panic and how much is sensible caution.
