In Summer type weather mini golf is fun.
I always went with going somewhere to play pool or darts. Something casual and easy. And if it goes well... you can always coyly ask him to help you improve your shooting skills at pool.
Which usually ends up with his arms around you,
his breath on your neck as leans in behind you while he shows off his skills.
and of course there is usually booze involved.

Assuming this is a sincere question, I'd say the best place is a nice, not-too-crowded restaurant, where you can enjoy a leisurely dinner and conversation and become more familiar with each other's tastes and so on. Then it will be easier to plan for future time together.
I think that being somewhere completely alone on a first date can prove awkward, if things aren't clicking, you know? At least in a restaurant, if you're finding it hard to get the conversation going, you can always talk about the food, the service, the decor, and even the other diners!

Star out at a coffee shop and then maybe go for a walk.
The advice columnists always suggest you go somewhere it is easy to leave without to much fuss. Go for a drink, instead of a meal, then you won't be trapped there, if you really want to leave.
I wouldn't go anywhere on a first date that I like to go in my life, I would pick someplace neutral, so I don't have to give it up if I am trying to avoid him.

It depends on the person, if your date is the outdoors type a picnic outside or at a park, inside quiet at home or at a quiet little restaurant, and if the are outgoing to a place where they can be active.
Hope this helps!

A Metro Park. Nothing like getting to know someone while walking wooded trails and enjoying the fresh air. You see things in a whole new light. You both see things that bring up chatter and before you know it your nervousness is gone. Never do the movie thing how lame you want to get to know this person not ignore them for two hours. Save that for marriage haha. Peace out......

It depends on if you're a talker or a person of action.
If you wanna talk, I'd say a museum.
If you wanna do something, try bowling or mini-golf.
A walk down by the lake/river/ocean is good, especially around sunset.

it depends whether it's a bit awkward between you both at the moment or not! if it is you need to click! doing something that you both enjoy together will help that. you ought to be doing something though to save awkward pauses! so find out what he/she enjoys. if your comfy with each other though, you want to spend sum romantic/passionate quality time together, to give them a first date they wont forget, somewhere like a park is always memorable, and very stimulating for romance! its easy to grab a romantic idea (or millions) in the park.

Something adventurous like skydiving, bunji jumping, sea doos, well just something to get your heart rate going a little and feeling alive.
Followed by a romantic dinner and just great conversation.

Two chairs, a table, a bottle of frozen white wine
Sunset, and a sexy or good looking waiter...well, i think more a man better..., you take her, hold her hand... and the ocean will drink you with love and effection... the sunset will burn your destiny of happiness and make you melt with shine and happiness...
* if of course she deserves all this.. * hope a good choice...
