When I turn 19 and he's 18, my best friend ever and I are hitting the road from Cleveland to California. I have 3 years until then. What do you think I should bring and what kind of car do you think I should look into buying (I'm a writer and plan on publishing a novel by that time)?
Also, any tips for winning him over (wink wink)?

Figure out how long it will take you to get there and plan your finances around that. I would defiately get a good car for that distance. Check into AAA in case you break down. Also make sure your insurance covers other drivers besides yourself. Plan the trip directions by how long you want to travel each day. Plan out some side trips too.

an efficient fuel cost car would do, like toyoto corolla. if you are a writer then i suggest you should bring a digital camera and plenty of paper to write, because as you travel, you will discover new things. and take pictures just to make it memorable. well you could always win him over by dragging him to a nice restaurant, or you could buy a wine and home made food for him and think of it as a picnic. cheers.

This is a long time away. I would recommend buying a newer car so that it is not likely to break down. You may also want an ipod so you have good tunes to listen to on the road.
