I am experiencing stiffness in my lower abdomen for 2 weeks now. I had a pregnancy test this morning and it was negative. The stiffness is not painfull...it just does not feel normal. Could I be pregnant? or am I going through menapause at an early stage? My period came for 2 days this month which has never happened to me before. I am 33 yrs old.

Ever since I started my period, I've always had it for 5 days. I've been late by just a couple of days but never bled for 2 days.

Women who are prone to early menopause generally started their period at an early age (I have a friend who started at nine, no joke!) or who've have several in vitro attempts. The average women doesn't experience early menopause. If you want to be very certain, schedule an appointment with your gynecologist or regular doctor. They'll do a blood test, and perhaps even do an internal to see if your cervix is closed. Urine stick tests won't turn positive if there's a low amount of HcG hormone, which generally is the case early on in a pregnancy.

That being said, my period has been changing a bit this year (I'm 36), sometimes it's 2 weeks late (AAAGH!) or other times it's really light and short. Are you experiencing any stress right now that might be affecting your cycles? Have you started taking new meds or vitamins? Any newly introduced factors can affect your period.
