6 weeks preggers and I can't keep anything down. I am not sick when i wake up, only after I put something on my stomach, even water. I realize that this is normal but I am so hungry and dizzy.

if it's severe, some Dr's prescribe anti-nausea med. I have a friend that had such severe nausea that it became a health issue for mom/baby and the Dr's gave med to control it. Talk to your dr.

A little nausea is normal for most women. Too much nausea is not normal, though. And if you can't even keep water down and you're feeling hungry and dizzy, that's a sign you have too much nausea.

Try dry starchy foods. Try ginger. Try Preggie Pops or other non-medication anti-nausea tricks. But if these don't do much for you, you really should see your doctor/midwife about the problem. When pregnant women have extreme, constant nausea, it can interfere with the health of you and the baby!

In the morning start with sugar water, flat gingerale or diluted juice. Only a small amount. You may find that either room temp or ice cold is best for you. Or for some women it's hot tea with sugar. (Yeah Yeah sugar isn't great for you but having a little something in the water seems to help). Don't have too much.

Then if that stays down for a bit nibble on some light food (crackers or fruit), unless you feel hungry in that case eat what is appealing to you.

As the day moves on try to eat more protein, and the continue to nibble and eat as you feel hungry. And be sure to get enough liquid.

Really it is about finding what works for you. So while this works for me, it may not for you. My last pregnancy it was all about apples and pears.

My first pregnancy even though I was eating 8+ servings of fruit a day and trying to get 100g of protein I still lost 35lbs in two months. I gained back 15 by the end. But remember nutrient dense foods are more important than your weight unless you started pregnancy with no fat to loose. Your body can burn fat for calories but many vitamins must be eaten daily as they can not be stored in your body.

When I was pregnant with my first, I couldn't keep anything down either. I got tested for toxemia and ended up in the second stage of it! The only thing that slightly helped for a little while was sleeping with saltine crackers next to my bed and eating some in bed before I even got up. That helped with the nausea and vomiting a lot! If I were you, I would also get tested for toxemia or pre-eclampsia just to make sure there is no protein overspill in your urine as this could cause many complications later on in pregnancy for you and baby! Good luck sweetie and I feel for you!

I had the same thing...I am so sorry for you...it sucks!

I ate alot of crackers...the chicken flavored ones appealed to me and I drank carbonated water or a diet coke. Anything else I ate usually I was unable to keep down.

If you go for a day or more without keeping down even water, call your dr or go to the ER, they will start an IV and get you hydrated and balance your electrolytes....actually, I reread the question...call your dr NOW. You should be able to keep water down and it worries me that you are dizzy.....I had to go to the hospital several times for dehydration etc....

Good luck to you and I hope you feel better soon. Please remember that some morning sickness is normal, but it is NOT normal to not be able to keep anything down......take care.

Some folks find it better to eat some crackers 1/2 hour before they get out of bed. Others simply skip eating for that time.

I only had afternoon sickness, so eating lunch was a total waste of food. So, I stopped and ate at breakfast and supper until I wasn't getting morning sickness anylonger.

I went through this straight until month 6 when I was pregnant with my first son. I lost 25lbs. If you cannot keep down one meal per day you need to speak with your doctor- there are medications that can help with this.

The only thing I found was to eliminate any strong smells- don't cook at home.. ask a friend or family member to prepare meals or eat out (be sure to eat healthy... not mcdonalds).

i say eat whatever you can...it all came up with me. it was miserable but i just kept trying different things. i ate like 5 small meals a day even if it was just snackie food. i had to b/c i thru everything up and was getting really lightheaded. i too wasn't sick first thing in the morning just all day. i wish you the best b/c i totally know that feeling. what helped me was knowing that at 20 weeks i could see my baby in ultrasound and then 20 weeks later i was going to hold my baby. keep your chin up and just try new things.

Talk to your Midwife, they can give you medicine for it. I take phenergan. It doesn't completly stop it, but it helps a little. Just watch for dehydration, you might need to go into the hospital for fluids if you can't keep down water.....

start with Ice chips and then add crackers when you can keep them down then add bananas if you can not keep this down after an hour of trying then you need to see your dr for either pills or shots to keep the food down.
