I've been watching c-span.......and well i've had to tape my eye lids open a couple times. I've gone to the library and got some books. I would like to know where i can get directly involved.

first place to look is at yourself.. because if you can't come up with a solid belief (but still be open minded to change) then you'll flail with the winds and never accomplish anything... next it is to get and stay informed.. NPR may have a slightly left agenda on what they choose to cover.. but the actual coverage itself is very neutral. find a good conservative and a good liberal news channel.. read newspapers from all around the nation.. and most importantly.. look at foreign news.. they are the only ones who don't have money at stake in how they report on America and our actions.

once you find what direction you believe you should go in politics then have at it.. but don't forget to reevaluate from time to time and make sure that you are still on track and that it is still the track you want.. doesn't have to be too often.. but it does need to happen.

Congratulations! That's how our cuntry will get better--by individuals--one by one--getting involved.

Here's a few suggestions:
First, don't try to do everything. Instead, pick the things YOU care most about. Example: I am passionate about disabiity issues. That doesn't mean other things are not important--but that's (one of) the areas that "punch my buttons."

And believe me, passion is important. Martin Luther King's famous "I have a dream" speech wouldn't have had the effect it did if he'd simply reeled off a list of economic statistics--even though he could have said the same things by doing so!

The list of things you can do is almost infinite--but here's a few things:
>find public service organizations in your community that need volunteers. I can be anything--here's one: teaching literacy. Think of the difference you'll make if you put just one person on the track to a better job and life that way--instead of a path leading tot he state prison!
>Speak out. You can write letters to newspapers--and your political representatives--as well as post your thoughts on blogs and Y/A. I keep a list of links of officials and politicians--when I have something to say, I click on the link and sound off. But also--you can go to these "public hearings" they're always announcing in your town. What many people don't realize is that many issues are decided at these hearings--often on the basis of a handful of the public who actually do show up.
>DON'T FORGET TO VOTE!!!!! And, if you have time, find candidates you can support and volunteer to help them win.

We are the sum of the parts. If you are working, paying your taxes, taking care of those dependent upon you, breaking no laws, and participating in the democratic process, then that's a good start. If all 300 million of us did that, we'd be a lot better off. On top of that, you may consider . . .

1. Volunteering and/or donating to the charity of your choice.
2. Making an effort to purchase American products.
3. Convincing any of the 300,000,000 who aren't doing the above why they are doing a disservice to the country.

well aside from joining the military (active or reserve which is the best suggestion I have but it's not for everyone) I would suggest start out by attending local city council meetings.
The subjects are a little closer to home so not as boring and the venue is small enough that you may actually be able to contribute right off the bat.

Hi aphotic....I believe that as Americans it is our civic duty to take back our country. The place to start is to support only products that are made here in the USA (obviously, we can only do this to a small degree). It appears that everything we buy is made in or assembled in China, Taiwan, Bangladesh, Phillipines and if we all started eliminating buying these products as a whole it would make an impact. Example: Hershey's will be building a plant in Mexico and as a result 1500 US employees will lose their jobs....the day they open the plant in Mexico will be the last time I purchase Hershey products. These are just my thoughts!

you will desire to be a rubbish guy? Are cons even remotely able to tell the reality approximately something? i'm balloting for Obama because of the fact of those undemanding issues. One, you would be unable to "con" your way into Harvard. in case you're actually not prosperous and attend Harvard this is for the reason which you quite earned it (no person will deny this). 2, he's devoid of doubt not a silver spooner, he has had to artwork for each thing. 3, which one has a extra physically powerful hold close on center classification subject concerns. the guy that grew to become into born undesirable or the guy that truly had maids serving his dinners for the reason that start? Your a desirable wing lackey that has offered each and all of the ridiculous speaking factors of the main appropriate that have actual no certainty in any respect. human beings such as you that drink kool-help are going to be our downfall!!

Start with yourself. Get informed on BOTH sides of the issues. Then carry out by getting involved in local politics. Go to local city council meetings and the like. It is always easier to start small and work your way up.

Educate your mind by listening to Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Glenn Beck, or watch Fox News. Forget NPR... as it is primarily a mouthpiece for the lunatic leftist Democrat party.
