I have been in a long distance relationship with my g/f for 5 1/2 years now. i live in michigan and she lives in minesotta. We see eachother every other few months or so. Now that i am in college, and i have a great paying job its hard to see her. The goal was for me to move to MN but its just hard to drop my job, health benefits, and school. I mean i love her but its real hard for me to move. i love her and everything but i just dont know what to do. i did move to mn for a yr right when i got out of high school. it was great seeing her everyday, but financially it was real tough. plus i truly missed my family and freinds back home in MI. At this point we are still dating and we will continue to do so, but what do i do? i am young only 21 but i have everyhting goin for me here. i asked her if she wanted to move here she says no. She also has a seizure disorder. When she has this her parents or relatives need to be there to answer questions based on family history to seiasure probs

A long distance relationship is extrememly hard. We all need a emotional but also physical relationship. It has been a while for both of you, you have been together for a long time. But both of you are young. That doesnt mean that it wont work, it just the distance tends to become a pressure. Be careful you dont want to get your heartbroken or break her's. Hopefully you both have real good communication and none will think of cheating. Cheating is a major factor of a long distance relationship. If you both love each other I truly believe it will work, but one of you has to decide eventually to seal this relationship and move. You cant be together for another 5 years and still be in a distant relationship, infedelity will be a major result. I recently broke up with my boyfriend because he cheated on me, again. We were in a distance relationship and I honestly thought it would work. I can sit here and tell you "hey it will not work, look what I went through" but I wont because I truly believe it can. If the love is strong enough you can make it work, but eventually like I said before you both have to reach a compromise and one of you will have to move.

You are ver young, and you are right, there is no need to drop everything that you got and make life changing desisions this early in life.
LDR ar hard to endure and you already have nearly 6 years of this sweet torture. If she is unwilling to move and is not in your best interests to move either, I say it's time to breakup.
A guy your age and in college need to concentrate in you studies and also enjoy the perks of having a real gf, the one that youc an touch and kiss when you feel like it, not a memory, an email or a Text message that you get to be acquanted with quarterly.
Tell her: It's time for me to move on. I wish you the best of luck , you will always be dear to my heart, but at this point of my life I'm looking to different things and have projects. It;s not in my plans to move there and therefore, we have no future together. This is for the best. Do not try to contact me, as this would only make matters worse.

Really great u two have been together for so long. Relationships like what u have are hard to have.. I do understand where u are coming from.. Its just a really hard decision for u.. Have u talked to her about how u feel. U are still young.. U need to enjoy life while u can. If u two come to the decision on not dating anymore.. maybe the two of u will be more happy about things.. What if she is wanting to date others in her state.. what about u. what is it that u really truley want.. Good luck to u on what u do.

sounds like you better learn the family seizure history fast bc if you ever expect to move on in your relationship and someday get married, her parents wont be there to answer those questions. Maybe then she would be willing to move there with you. Talk to her parents and see if they can write you out a script of questions and answers that the doc might ask so you can have that and then she could come to MI.

What should you do? If your girlfriend of 5 1/2 years really wanted to be with you, despite the fact that she has seizures, she would. You could learn her family medical history and get her medical attention when needed.
Are you sure that is her only reason for not wanting to move with you?

I think that you have to realize that eventually in order to progress this relationship you will have to live in the same state. Just because things are rough financially isnt that worth living with the one you love? Nothing is easy, and no one says that moving to accomodate each other will be easy, but eventually it has to be done, otherwise you are in love with the idea ofthe relationship, not the relationship itself. My boyfriend and I lived long distance for a year and a half, but somethings gotta give..ya know?

If you two are meant to be together than eventually everything will work out for you. If she really loves you, she should want to live with you. Maybe she doesn't want to leave her family or something. Ask her what she really wants, and be prepared to either have her live with you, or break things off with each other. Good luck

she does not need her family there. she can have all her family history page printed out at her local physicians office or from her last doctors office or she can sit down with her mommy and write it all out so its readily available if you have to take her to the er for any reason. she sounds like more or a co dependent person as you are independent. ask her to marry you if you have been together so long and have her move out with you otherwise its time you move on.
