Let me reiterate what only ONE other person seems to be aware of - guinea pigs don't need salt supplements! It's a common misconception. The only "extra" thing a guinea pig needs is Vitamin C, which they should get from fresh fruits & veggies. Some people use liquid vitamin C supplement that can be added to their water, but the jury's still out on whether that's a good idea or not, as it messes with the taste of their water and isn't as reliable as "fresh" vitamin C from produce. But again - hay, veggies, & pellets should be the only components to a pig's diet, no salt neccessary! =) Good luck with your project!

You can use a salt wheel { the type a rabbit uses } but I don't think your guinea pig needs one. If you feed a good pellet food and plenty of fresh veggies and fresh water, you will have a happy pig. But please don't use cedar as bedding, when urine mixes with oils in the cedar it can cause a low gas that can cause death. Use a paper product called Carefresh, it's sold in large bags and is very easy to clean up when it gets on the floor. If your pig can get natural sunlite all the better but if not get a UV flo light from your local pet store. I use type of light on my birds since they can't go outside and get it from mother nature herself.

You can give them a salt wheel/block...but really guinea pigs don't usually need one.
A guinea pig's diet should consist of a high quality food, timothy hay, occasional fresh fruits and vegetables, and some sort of vitamin C supplement- but unless your pig has some sort of deficiency it shouldn't require a salt lick.

You can buy salt wheels or small salt/mineral blocks they lick for salt. Buy them at a pet store. Do NOT put it in their water!! They will lick it when they need salt. Salty water is not good and they are forced to drink it when no fresh water is available. They need fresh clean water.

yOU CAN BUY SMALL SALT LICKS FROM THE pet store meant for rodents, or you can put in the water, but I wouldn't reccomend that. you may put too much salt and dehydrate hampster. so go to the pet store and get some salt cubes.
