OK well Gollum to start off isnt exactly a villain, he is a poor creature who fell into the darkness of the ring. the ring is poison it messes up your mind. The point is the ring really is the villain, and since Sauran put his soul into this ring it is sauran ( I AM A LOTR NUT ) some of the other villains you could say are the orcs and the urukai (i would check the spelling) Saruman chooses to be on the bad side and then there are the nazgul, witch kings. They were once men who were also curupted by suran. Then there are goblins and trolls. Hope this helps...
Saruman - Evil thing ... that wants to rule all of middle earth he is apart of a ring that brings evil were ever it goes
Saruman- White Wizard
Urukai- Half orc half Elf... Saruman made them
Ors- Evil race of creatures that serve Sarun
goblins- live in caves similar to orcs
trolls- big monster looking things

Er.. it is Gollum. And many more but he/it definitely is one. He was created by the one ring (The abstract villain that makes all near it into villains, the point of the movie.) And the ring was created by ... the Ultimate Villain Sauron. This Sauron has a lot of minions... to name 'a few':
The Men, kings, who possessed the Nine rings. They were slowly corrupted over time and eventually became the undead Nazgûl or Ringwraiths, Sauron's most feared servants. Again...turned by a ring...see the connection?

Sauron is the ultimate villian and many of the evil beings in Middle Earth serve him. The Nazgul, or Ringwraiths, were men who were decieved by Sauron and are now forced to serve him forever.
Saruman was once the head of the order of wizards, but has been corrupted by the power of the Ring and desires the power and control of the One Ring.
Gollum is one of the more interesting characters. He has the desire to do good, however the Ring has such a powerful hold on him that he is corrupted as well.
Orcs and goblins also serve as foils to the Fellowship along their journey.

There are lots of villians but the ultimate bad guy is Sauron. He is trying to get the Ring of power back the whole time. He is THE bad guy.
