i havent got a dvd ripper on my lap top, but how do i save dvd's to my media player?

I prefer the software from Xilisoft. I use their DVD to iPod converter, but they have a boatload of others. I highly recommend them.

You need a DVD burner. If you cannot get one installed try connecting an external peripheral device.
