If you want quality pics and images, look for a logitech cam with right lite 2 technology.....

Try the Logitec Fusion its the best all round web cam I have seen. The Logitec Pro 5000 is better in poor light but both have video effects, great for chatting with kids.
Another good cheaper cam is the logitec stx.
But if you want to go for looks and fun then try the Logitec Sphere im ,it looks great and everyone loves trying to fool the auto face tracking.
The quality of video you stream is mostly determined by the messenger you use.M.S.N. is the best at the moment

Check the users review here. http://www.babymatter.com/shop/amazon_products_feed.cgi?templates=12&Operation=ItemSearch&Keywords=Web+Cam&SearchIndex=Blended

Also, look for something that will give you 30fps (Frams per Second) and that will allow you to use it even on a dim area.

Good Luck.
