We were talking about this at work this morning and i said the same. We should ask the French for an apology for the invasion of 1066 as well. The slave trade was not a good thing and i wont defend it but how far back do we go in history and say sorry for everything. A lot of people dont realise it was black people capturing other black people and selling them to the English but you dont hear of Sierra-Leone or the Ivory Coast apologising

Yes indeed...and what about those pesky Normans coming over here shooting arrows just where and at whom they like...not to mention the Germans dropping bombs all over the place.
But then again Henry V did a bit of no good in France (Agincourt and all that) so perhaps everyone should apologise to everyone else and then all will be fine.

2 good 2 miss makes some very valid points. Also, I think there has to be a point where we say enough is enough. I don't think it would be inappropriate for The Government to 'express regret' at the wrong doings of our forefathers, but I don't think an apology is necessary.

Yes or I will blame all our faults and failings on the Italians, Then we will march through London and who knows Red Ken may say sorry to us or even Tony Blair.

I agree,could you please tell me, can claim apologies for the enslavement of my white British ancestors,also where I can claim monetary compensation from in recognition of the maltreatment of them,also the stress and shame that I suffer every time I think about this? I'm sorry about this,I'll just take an aspirin and lie down,I'm so upset and stressed!

lol nah, whats done is done. be pointless in getting an apology for something that happened SO many years ago, it jus wouldn't mean much today
