If the man has known the woman for many years and now they have random sex (couple of times every few months or so), what does that mean for the man? Are men able to compartamentalize their feelings that easily? I.e., they used to be sort of friends, and now they have sex. And that's all there is to it? Or could there be more meaning?

Any woman proficient in the technical professions can be used as a tech. There are plenty of female techs out there. You can't go wrong going to school for that one honey.

You don't give any idea as to what the woman is doing.
Is she in it for the sex, or is she expecting a romantic relationship to follow from it?
If they are both enjoying sex once in a while, then there's no "using" going on.
If she's deluded and thinking the relationship is more than it is, then she's deluded and needs to get a clue.
If he lies to her, suggesting it's going to become a romantic relationship, she's deluding herself and needs to get a clue. (After all, if this is a pattern, it's time she realized nothing else is coming from it.)
It isn't a question of men compartmentalizing their feelings. Sex is sex. Love is love. They simply aren't the same thing.
Many women confuse the two.
BTW, in case you're wondering, I'm a woman -- I'm just not a ninny who assumes sex = love.
But, if these two people are enjoying having sex, then I don't see that it's anyone else's business.

i do not imagine that is actual. If that became actual which could propose that God wanted them to get an STD and decide them to impregnate as many women as achieveable. that is only unhappy how society is so sex obsess lately and young children are having sex and getting pregnant. i imagine it truly is form of why that guy that you artwork with is so sex warped and that i'm sorry, yet when i became his female friend i could dump his ******* *** for dishonest on me. that is the style of lame excuse and it is going to get him interior the acceptable. i wish he catches some thing and study a lesson then turn his existence round. sex isn't each thing and existence isn't about the shape of girls you slept with. i'm like you. Sorry to say that the man wants just sex. If you wanted more, you would know by now. He will keep up the same pattern because of the sex. If your "friend" is not comfortable with the situation then tell your "friend" to stop having sex with the man.

Of course we can compartmentalize feelings that way...it's called lust by the way, and like an itch, once scratched, that's it. On to the next thing.
Women on the other hand, seem quite able to offer sex in exchange for financial security or gratuities...they seem to value material things a bit more than men and are willing to do all sorts of things to obtain them. Madonna's song "material girl" is more true than not in most men's minds.

Men can have sex without any meaning at all. Some women can too but it seems we get more attached.
If there were more meaning he would probably want to make it more permanent.

generaly when a woman gives her self in sex it is for love but a man will do it with any one willing. so the chances are the woman will become more involved than the man. God intended us to live as couples not just have sex for gratification.

For the guy? Likely it means next to nothing. Men can easily compartmentalise their feelings like that yes. That's not to say he wouldn't miss it if it was taken away, but probably not as much as he would miss his TV remote.

It means that is all he cares about, not getting married or having a future with her, but just enjoying himself by having sex with her. no emotional involvement. he could believe that by him doing small things for her that she owes him sex. Or he could believe she gets the same enjoyment as he does out of the sex, so it' even.
