It has cost me two of my very good friends, the ability to be with my son as he enters his teen years when he needs my guidance, my baby girls first dance recital, my middle girls elementary school graduation, my 14th wedding anniversary, and numerous other special events not to mention Thanksgiving and Christmas.

It has taken a part of me that I will never get back but has given me a life that I never knew existed.

Quite possibly, this is the best worst experience of my life.

All that being said, I couldn't be more proud of what we're doing.

I'll tell you what it HASN'T cost me.....another plane into a damn building!! Since this war started, there have been no terrorist acts on US soil. Coincidence? Don't think so. I know the war is costly and the lost life of one US soldier is too much, but I appreciate my country insuring my freedom and safety. If we didn't go into Iraq, I know we would have lost a lot more than 3,000 American lives by now, and that would include kids, not just brave American men and women who made the incredibly unselfish decision to risk their lives for our country.

What would it cost if we let the terrorists grow and collaborate? Let the professionals do their job, the one's who signed up. Me, I'm a 23 year veteran and still serving. I'd rather it be me than any civillian who pays the cost to enemies of our ways and beliefs. AMEN!
My cost: I've been to the Middle East five times now. I've met, lived with, played with and worked with many people of the area. I like them, they have a great sense of humor. Spent many days away from my family and loved ones. Saw a few of my friends die. It's very hot there and the things we carry are heavy. We went there to do a job and now I'm told that people think it's not worth while. I wish they would come and see what the news doesn't report. I wish they would come and see the people who are really glad we came.

personal loss...a friends son..and his brother commiting suicide shortly after.....some monetary considerations im sure in the form of tax dollars and donations....
but im thinking of what the eventual cost would be to america and our descendants if we dont fight this war...if we let these fascists and tyrants have their way in their own countries, what makes us seem to think we wont be next..?? and isnt that what america was and is based upon..the freedoms and morals and values we take for granted here...that we export those valuable things to people who wouldnt or couldnt be afforded them, even at our own cost..??? isnt that the greatest gift america can give to the world, the freedoms and values that our country was founded upon..???

Nothing - The airports are annoying, but otherwise I am quite comfortable with everything. I find democrat opinions more $$$ related - but then again that is typical, they claim republicans are for the rich but all democrats in congress do is get rich off of Americans.

it cost me my apathy. glad to see it go. having a brother in afghanistan and iraq makes you pay a little closer attention to what's going on. side note there - neither he nor myself agree with the beginning, middle, or lack of end in this war. but, we're polysci majors.

So far, it has cost about 1/5 (one fifth) the *annual* cost of implementing all the environmental restrictions contained in the Kyoto agreement on global warming.

Oh about 500 Billion dollars to all tax payers
Future costs to help injured veterans.
100's of billions more in interest and future deficits.

Goodwill from the world lost.

The Patriot Act has taken my freedoms away. And it bugs me because that was what my ancestors fought for in the Revolutionary War. It is beginning to feel like Russia when the KGB was watching all of the people.
