Angus and Malcolm Young claim they developed the idea for the band's name after seeing the acronym "AC/DC" on the back of a sewing machine owned by their sister, Margaret. "AC/DC" is an abbreviation for "alternating current/direct current", which indicates that an electrical device can use either type of power. The brothers felt that this name symbolised the band's raw energy and power-driven performances, and the name stuck.[7][8]

In some cultures, "AC/DC" is a slang term for bisexuality; the band have said that they were not aware of this usage until it was brought to their attention by a taxi driver one night after a concert early in their career.[9] Some religious figures have suggested that the name stands for "Anti-Christ/Devil's Child(ren)", "Anti-Christ/Devil Christ", "After Christ/Devil Comes", "Anti-Christ/Death to Christ", "Anti-Christ/Demon Child", and so on. Although rumours have persisted among critics attempting to paint the band as Satanists, the band have denied these interpretations of their name, and have mocked the accusations

Alternate Current, Direct Current.

If you are speaking of the Band, AC-DC, then it may be different than the above.
Example: Either way.

Yes, it stands for "Alternate Current/ Direct Current", and since this is used to describe a piece of electrical equipment that can use both kinds of current, "AC/DC" is slang for being bisexual.

The reliable and preferrred proper reason of the call is that the more youthful brother's sister examine the letters "AC/DC" from her mom's sewing gadget. AC and DC are both electric powered symbols meaning "Alternating modern" and "Direct modern". And sice the band became (and nonetheless is) a band that makes use of electric powered guitars and performs loud, volumous, rock'n'roll, those symbols equipped the band all suitable. So once you say "really", i wager that you talk with the rumors that the letter's actual meaning is "After Christ the devil Comes", "Anti Christ / devil's little ones" etc etc etc. yet i'm very almost particular that this isn't the band's purpose. because there are very almost no references to the devil or god or any non secular relation interior the AC/DC lyrics. as well the song "street to Hell", there aren't any symbols used on the band contributors.

Hilarious to see the answers here still trying to perpetrate the "Anti-Christ Devil C***" (fill in the stars) hoax/myth.
Quite funny - I heard that Angus Young almost peed himself with laughter the first time he heard that story.
