Every little bit helps. People don't realize how much impact online discussions have. Every piece of information someone takes in subtly changes them. They then interact with other people, which changes them in turn. It's a chain reaction. Every little bit of input helps change the world.

Not sure what sort of forums you're referring to.

There are blogs that are very influential, some have posted stuff that then the media, and eventually everyone, then has to acknowledge and deal with.

A forum where people with a shared purpose hash out ideas could make a difference, if they develop ideas that they then take off-line and convince other people of.

But I gather that a lot of what goes on in such place is not-well-informed people arguing -- many of them just there to trash others. These aren't productive.

I hope so, or else why do I do this? Maybe for fun, and maybe also to put a new thought in a person's head. I myself getting new ideas, and thoughts. I don't know for sure if we make an affect, or a difference, but I would like to think so. If for nothing else, this forum causes me to think! Although, I must say that Yahoo! kind of stinks!

I would like to believe people give thoughtful answers, and some do, but there is so much name calling and finger pointing going on at y.a. that it makes having a reasonable discussion impossible.

No! But, it is laughable that all these people who claim to have such strong feelings against the war spend their time on the net complaining, and insulting each other, rather than doing something about it. Why are you guys not storming the streets in Washington in protest. I respect that everyone has opinions, but be more proactive.
