its getting really bad. 24 yr old single women have 5 kids, started at 13. and they in turn have children in their teens (generalization alert, i know, no need to bring it up) and the cycle continues. should we be like china and have child limits? cause this whole self-responsible thing isnt working, and with more and more people being supported by the govt thru either welfare programs or SSI, its really not fair to the working people, as the system will collapes in the future. something needs to be done.....but what?

any form of population control would be bad. Yes, the population is high, but to forcibly prevent people from having children or forcing them to kill their children is immoral and it would be a huge overstepping of government power. what should be done is to reform the welfare program so that only those who are actually trying to make a living get welfare, and social security should be privated so hard-working men and women don't have to pay for anyone else's stupidity.

The exponentials of population are staggering. How would you recommend the selection process for gets killed? If the government would stop supporting the abuse of the system - then people might think twice about the number of children they have.

No way. To me, that would be as bad as killing poor people to reduce the population. Killing is wrong no matter what the reason. For the women you mention in your example, I'd rather see them be forced to get a hysterectomy after the second child.
