We only started transmitting strong signals maybe 40 years ago. So only Civilizations within 40 light years could have heard us, if they were capable, and if they had thier ears pointed towards us. The whole idea is working on very small odds my friend. Try working out Drake's equation for yourself.

The idea of an alien race that wants to enslave/kill/eat us is one of those things that everyone worries about but the experts find utterly ridiculous.
Any alien race that finds us will be so sufficently advanced that we won't pose a threat. And any race that finds us will have solved so many problems of physics (since Faster than Light Travel is virtually alchemist's gold) that they probably have much more efficient means of harvesting resources than to come down to Earth and start causing trouble. Even if they found us tasty, it would be more cost effective to simply synthesize the delectable part of us and not spend the trouble trying to hunt us down
Think about it like this, when we discover a new species somewhere, is our first instinct to kill it before it evolves into a threat? Most likely, any race that discovers us will want to study us. Or more likely, will ignore us, the same way humans generally ignore ant piles out in the forest.

Alien life will never be a menace to us.
SETI is looking for a signal that may prove that other intelligent life does exist, that we are not alone.
No doubt that they are spotted throughout the universe,we just could not be alone.
Technological societies like ours are probably short lived and we may never get proof of their existence and they will never visit earth.
They probably theorize about our existence and are listening for some signal from us.

SETI is only listening, not sending.
However, TV signals and especially air defense radar signals to escape the Earth and could be picked up by aliens who were listening.

You may want to focus on spelling and grammar before you try to break into astronomy. I'm surprised that anyone can understand your question. It appears that you don't even understand it. You may be living proof that these aliens are already here.

Human haters believe anything that has more advanced intellect will not be violent. I'm not sure how they came to this conclusion.

We are not contacting them, we're listening for them. Totally different technology.

The reason why is simple...
because man is and always has been curious.
And for that reason, man explores for answers.
