Just drinking water will not detox your system fully and it is dangerous because you will starve your body of the essential nutrients, minerals and vitamins it needs to continually rebuild the cells that make up your body. I wuld suggest that you can actually get an all natural body detox that takes only three weeks and you can eat as normal. try the 21 day herbal cleanse from www.myhealthabcmall.com, I have used this several times myself and it is a great way to detox naturally and safely. the difference you will feel is truly aamzing. Dont try the water only thing it could do you some long term damage. good luck

First, you need to understand that detoxing and fasting are two different things. Fasting, whether or not you drink water only or do a juice fast is the process of giving the functional organs of the body a rest so they have a chance to rejuvinate. If you think about it our bodies 'run' 24/7 without a break...constantly digesting food, fighting off illness, even while we're sleeping. A fast, even a short one or two day fast gives the body an opportunity to rest. Also, unless you are experienced in fasting it would be a good idea to start small...maybe a one or two day fast to start. If you want to do a serious detox you should visit your local health food store and have them help you pick out a good whole body cleanse. A good one can be pretty pricey..between $200 &$300 bucks. A good cleanse can take anywhere from a week to three weeks and depending on how serious you want to be about it, you can either continue to eat regularly during it or you can limit your food intake to either fruit juices or fresh fruits. The less amount of solid food you take in during your cleanse the more energy you body has available to flush toxins.

The main answer to your question is NO.
These kind of drastic fasts are only done under guidanc, and protected environment- as in yoga ashrams or special detox centres. They should never be done at home unless you are fully trained to do so.
You really want to detox? The first rule is that the entering and breaking of the fast are more important than the fast itself.
The second rule is to rest the whole time of the fast and keep very warm. Stay at home, have peaceful walk around your garden, and stay quiet within yourself- no loud or violent television. During a fast, you are extremely sensitive and vulnerable, both to the outside environment and to stimulus to the mind. Take care of yourself.
On the first day, start to detox by eating a very simple cooked meal of rice and split mung beans (found in Indian stores and health stores) for a full day, every 3 hours. Eat a portion which fits into both palms put together, each time. Drink boiled warm water the whole day.
The next day, drink of a big glassfreshly made fruit smoothies every 2 hours- use a lot of apples, pears, papaya, and a little banana. Do not use a juicer, it takes out the fibers. Use a normal kitchen blender. Drink a lot of boiled water.
The third day. go back to eating the rice and beans every 3 hours with lots of hot water the whole day. Add one teaspoon of olive oil on the rice and beans from lunch time, to every meal. It will stop you from having constipation following the fast.
The fourth day, start eating normally again, favouring freshly cooked food, natural and unprocessed, with a lot of steamed vegetables, especially dark green ones like broccoli, kale, spinach or pak choi.
To carry on the benefit of the fast, make sure you eat healthy foods, drink a lot of water and have enough uncooked oil in your diet on a regular basis, daily if possible.
You cannot go wrong with this if you foolow the steps. Enjoy and good luck!

I think it's important to define - for yourself - what detox means. I use a product about twice a year called Yerba Prima because it has ingredients that do different things: eliminates parasites, builds up good bacteria, aids the liver ...etc. As important as water is, I can't imagine it doing all that. And how do you know you're water is clean and not toxing you more? I agree with the person who said it's important not to deprive your body of nutrients it needs, and by not eating, you're doing exactly that.

I answered your question earlier and I was one of the ones who actually knows a little about nutrition. It is not good for you to deprive your body of essential nutrients. You can faint and pass out and have other serious adverse health complications. It's mostly about eating natural healthy foods such as fruits and vegetables and staying away from carbs, meat and refined sugars. You will detox best with some food to help keep things moving through.

There is a safe way and is simpler by taking a certain vitamin. It is called Nutriferon. It builds your immune system to its optimum naturally. You don't have to fast using it. Besides these water fasts are not effective if your immune system is weak. You will be open to allergies, any other 'bugs' in the air. The purpose of a 'fast' is to cleanse your body of 'free radicals' as they are known. But, if you have a weak immune system, it won't work. To find where to get it type in search: nutriferon

Did you know that if you drink to much water it can damage your body ? I don't think that only water will detox your body. If you don't get anything that stimulates your intestines the stuff you want to leave your body don't get stimulated to leave.
