All responders are correct in regard to certain publishers; others have entirely different systems, though a date on the reverse of the title page can certainly eliminate possibilities.
A first impression may differ from later ones by so little as a comma on page 348, and it may take some research to know whether you have a first printing.

It's there written in the 1st or 2nd page (left side) of the book giving details of it's edition.

Look on the copyright page. Most will say "first edition" if that is the case. Otherwise, you will see numbers like this
2 3 4 5 6, etc. Whatever number it starts with is the number of printing (first, second, etc.)
