I work with severely impaired children and young adults. Music is great, no matter what level they are on, they all love it so much. Find age appropriate music / sing alongs, etc. we get into large circles and we have a box full of hand instruments. We clap, stomp our feet, we have colorful silk material we twirl around. A lot of them, catch on and sing to the songs. It is the best thing that i have seen- they say music does us all wonders! Hope this helps!

Set up a store with boxes of items that you save from home. Have them shop using pictures of the money that they will need to buy each item ( you can put it on the box). Then, have them match the pictures to the play money that you give them. Make it fun by having a real treat to buy at the end! =) Enjoy them! =)

you need to know that you should be using people first language. you are working with students who are developmentally impaired. or, students with learning disabilities. never identify a child by their disability.
what you are saying is an archaic term. ugh.
now, they are children who like to do things that all children like to do. arts and crafts, games, creative play....
