I was induced for my first child, but then I went into labor with my 2nd and 5th child. I ended up having cesareans for the 2nd and 5th child, but when the labor started, it wasn't bad. By the time I hit the o.r room, I was like 7-8 centimeters dialated and the labor pains were bearable?

I was induced with my first two and I was in hell for 36 and 32 hours. I went naturally on my third, it was painful, but not nearly as bad, and I was only in labor for 11 hours. I'd choose naturally over ANYTHING!!!!

The fact that it is not natural is why it hurts. The induction forces your body to have contractions, they are stronger. It is a hurried process, and in a way your body fights it a bit.

Here is an example when you are going to get blood drawn or a shot it hurts right? (Not to much but some) When you know the person is about to do it, you tense up and it hurts going in, because you are tense. Now when they don't tell you when they are going to do it and have you distracted it doesn't hurt much if at all, you weren't expecting it and you weren't tense. Well you body does the same thing when it is doing it, it is okay and relax (althrough you may not be) but with the medicine it is saying I need to fight this and the pain is stronger because you body is tense.

i was induced with both of mine and so its all i know. i will say that for me the contractions were quite painful...they came on quick and strong but the pushing part was't as bad i pushed for 5 times the first time and 3 with the second one. i did have an epidural with both of mine b/c i couldn't take it anymore. i also tend to think b/c of both of my experiences that the better nurse you have the better your experience with an induction.

They ARE worse when induced because nature isn't taking it's own course, it is being rushed along by medicine.
