Not necessary at all. It's giving in to the weak, insecure and spiteful part of your nature. Everyone feels like acting that way, but it makes you a better, stronger, more like-able person if you show that you can still be civil and friendly to someone you once had feelings for (or even someone who said nasty things about you).
More important than appearing the better person, though, is the enormous sense of pride and well-being that goes along with acting mature in such a situation. When you give into acting petty and vindictive, it *doesn't* make you feel better - just even more bitter towards the person you are hurting.
P.S. - for those of you not from the central belt of Scotland, 'heehaw' - the noise that donkeys make - is a Scottish slang term for 'not much' or 'nothing at all' e.g. "How much did ye get paid then, Jim?" "Cheap b*stard gae me sweet heehaw"

He coumd care approximately her and love her without being in love along with her or having any distant emotions in direction of her. whilst he informed you that somebody would desire to love 2 human beings on an identical time, it did no longer neccesarily recommend him. It fairly relies upon on the communique...He maximum probably meant it whilst he reported he would desire to love noone extra desirable than he loves you. desire I helped. C=

No. I don't understand this either.
I'm even civil to my ex husband! And his mistress... it's not HER fault, after all.
