I have a Toyota Celica 94 GT and one day I notice that some smoke was coming out the muffler, it was weird cuz that never happend before. so i took it to a mechanic and he told that I need a Cylinder head for the valve job with the valve seals and that i also have oil pan leak the estimated price is 950. is it too much ? the has a lot miles on it 163k but i really like the engine but i don't know if i should replace it or just get another car? please help

After you do the head work the next thing to go wrong will be the rings and bearings due to the extra compression from the valve job. Better off to trade.

Have the pump verify. Engine flush and new oil. could be clog.. what number Miles shown? Is it burning oil, is there a leak? Does it heats because of oil, or maybe coolant temp.?1994, 13 yrs. water plug on block ok? Worn piston earrings? If a verify up shows any signal of worn elements, heavily worn, then replace engine, verify ideal given assure. If no longer, restoration. do no longer SAY replace ENGINE IF====as it is a contact, shall we promote the total engine, the shoppeee will imagine.

the price is about right they probably want to take the head of to do valve stem seals. it would be easier to repair your engine than get another one due to not being 100% on its history (the replacement engine). if thinking of buying another car, you might get rid off one problem but dont forget things can also happen with any other car. the same as it did with yours.

That price sounds like an average price for the repair, but they're probably going to charge you a hell of a lot more for "labor". But I wouldn't replace that...it would cost a lot more to replace, but I would just fix it so you can keep your engine, and the money in your wallet.
Good luck.

look, if i didn't had a lot of money i would replace it (the engine) and run for another 10 years , or sell it and buy another one, but if you count with the money , jus buy yourself another car finish with the problem

really depends on the shape of the rest of the car. you don't want to drop one grand on a car and have something else go next week.
