Staying on Disney property but not in a Disney resort. Staying at Swan/Dolphin in Mid-April. I hear the food is very expensive at Swan/Dolphin (and at WDW in general). Are there outside places (pizza, etc.) that can deliver to the room? Which ones? Is that even allowed? Please enlighten me... Thanks!

Yes, there are many pizza places that deliver. You can ask the hotel, or even look in the phone book for info. Most places will have ads and then say if they deliver, if there is a charge, etc. You should be able to find a few options outside of pizza as well.

As far as food at Disney, you are looking at about $10 per person for a basic hamburger and fry. Counter-service meals cost around $10 and thn table-service are around $20 and up. You can eat cheap at Disney, but it isn't easy, that is one of the main reasons the dining plan is so popular. Bring some things that you can pack in your suitcase and then take to the parks, snacks and things, so that you don't need to eat every meal at Disney. If you will have a fridge or kitchen, you could also do some meals in the room.

Okay, since you won't have a fridge, that will mean you won't be able to have many meals in the room, such as cold meat. The best way to save money is to buy some things before you go. Breakfast bars, granola, cookies, etc. that can be put right in your purse and taken into the park will make things a lot less expensive for you. Also, bringing your own water bottle would help, since you could refill it at the parks. Since you don't have a fridge, it won't be real cold, but it still helps. You can get a cup of water anywhere in the park, for free, so that would work as well. Also, something like peanut butter would be something you could bring along as well. The bread wouldn't stay fresh long, but it would probably get you through. You also can get to the McDonald's in Downtown Disney, which would be inexpensive.

Dining at Disney is not cheap, but you can do it for a little less if you want to bring some snacks and things. I would say that you could get by with about $40 a day for the both of you, you could probably spend a little less and you can always spend a little more. The counter-service or quick-service meals are not considered too cheap by most people, but it is the least expensive option at Disney. Some of the meals are big enough that you may be able to split and save a little more that way.

Hope this helps!

You can order, or go out and bring in fast food, regardless.
I stayed at the Royal Hawaiian a few years ago and we went down just for a light lucheon. Get this, this was in 1977 and i go me a plate and was just going to get a salad. At that time if you pick up a plate it was $9.95. This was like 10:00AM, and I told this waiter that I just wanted a small salad. He said $9.95. I said what if I get the fine food that you have out, like the ham steak, the lobster, or any of the ten different meats that was on the buffet. He said again $9.95.
So not being that hungry, I did pig out. Like I said this was in 1977. I wonder what that plate will cost you now to go through the buffet line.
And to get your point across, we did go through the Lobby at the "Pink Palace" with chicken you could smell all over the lobby.

We ordered pizza in every night. There will be a brochure in the room on whom to call. The front desk should help you too. I loved ordering pizza in.
