The bears would trade briggs to the redskins for the 6th pick and the 31st pick in the draft. Is this rumor true? Should the bears do the trade?

Lance Briggs is a proven commodity. He will be a good player for any team. Drafting at #6 does not guarantee a top player, so it is a gamble for the Bears. But a gamble that is well worth it.

Honestly, the Bears do not need him, due to his attitude. He said in an interview he wanted to go to a different team because he wanted to be the leader of a defense and didn't think he could ever do that with the Bears because of Urlacher. I hate to tell Mr. Briggs this, but leaders are not self appointed, they earn that respect. Trashing your team and saying you are not going to show up for work does not show leadership. A true leader will not only live by his contract but also sacrifice for his team. He needs to decide if he wants to be a selfish punk who is only out for himself or he wants to be a leader. It sounds to me like he has chosen to be selfish. God forbid he would get paid 8 million dollars this year by the Bears and then become a free agent next year. I feel so sorry for you Lance that with the Bears you would be one of the top paid LB's in the league, on one of the best defenses in the league, on a Super Bowl caliber team. It must be tough to be you!

Have fun with your overpaid whiner Washington. I hope you have better luck with him than we have.

They are working it out right now. The skins obviously would need to work out a long term deal with briggs before the trade goes through. I think its a bad deal for the skins, cause it still doesnt address the skins biggest need which d-line, but for the bears it seems to be a good deal. Cause at 6 they can get a player that much better than Briggs.

As a Redskins fan I hope it doesn't happen, but the teams are talking. The Skins don't need another LB, especially a overpaid, one with an attitude. I hope they keep the sixth pick and pick up a DE or DT. That is what Washington needs right now.

If I was a Bears fan I would be excited. Moving up to #6 for a guy who is going to sit out or be a locker room cancer is a great move.

As a Bears fan, I hope this is true. Not only could the Bears get a great talent, either at DT or QB, but they could sign Lavar Arrington at a much cheaper price to replace Briggs in the lineup. Why didn't they just include this with the Archuletta deal though?

The Redskins would swap picks with the Bears and receive Briggs. So, your telling me the Bears don't want to pay Briggs who is a proven all pro, but will pay a rookie #6 money who hasn't played a down yet in the NFL?

It's very early, and word of this was leaked by his agent, the notorius Drew Rosenhaus.

It's probably a good deal for both, but the Redskins always overpay for talent. They gave away Champ Bailyey an a second pick for Portis.

Bears fans should be stoked. They can get some serious talent at #6.

well the trade isn't official, it's just an option that was suggested by the redskins.

if they can't figure anything out, lance briggs would sit out ten games and play for the last six games, which would still be considered 'played season' under nfl rules...

it'll be better for both parties if the trade happened

If there's any truth to it the Bears should defintely do it. If they can get the 6th pick, they can get the impact DT they sorely need along side Tommie Harris and they can get a LB to replace Briggs in the 2nd round.

It's in talks right now. I think the Bears should take it and draft Brady Quinn.
