I was wanting to know if anyone can tell me how to create a drop-down choice in a cell in Microsoft Excel. For example, if I want Column A to be a choice between A, B, or C and I want to just use a drop-down to choose one -- how do I set that up? I am using Excel 2002 here at work.

Just do this
- Select a cell
- Go to Data > Validation
- Select "List" from "Allow This"
- In the "Source" type this

This can be done in two methods

And sadly it really is much easier to show * someone how to do this rather than explain.

Method one

Using a form drop down menu

Create the list contents required in cells
For example:

"Column A"
"Column B"
"Column C"

Now click view
Tool bars
Forms

In the tool bar that appears select the drop down combo box.
Sometimes shown as Combo box.

Click the size of the drop down list

Now click the drop down and right hand click the list
Select Format Control

In input range simply highlight the range of list contents that you wrote at the beginning.

You can then develop this list to make macros. *

Method two

Create the contents of the list
Highlight the range
Click Data
Click List
Click create list

I hope this helps.

Type within the record someplace at the sheet that you'll be able to cover. Then use the validation software - in Tools > Validation. You must be in a position to select the variety you desire the drop right down to incorporate.
