Go buy a replacement gas line, or clip a small amount of excess line off the car and use it as a sample to test the brake cleaner on... that way you will know for sure.

For me it almost completely dissolved a rubber diaphram in a last ditch effort to clean out an EGR valve. I ended up buying a new valve anyway.

Edit***

Brake Cleaner is not basically isopropyl.

The can sitting in front of me reads.

CONTAINS STRONG SOLVENT
DO NOT SPRAY ON PAINTED SURFACES
1. Remove wheel and protect RUBBER, plastic and painted surfaces ....

Contains perchloroethylene, methylene cloride and toluene.

May cause skin disorders and has caused cancer in lab animals.

Rubbing alcohol, sheesh.

Just spray the cleaner on a rag and wipe with it. Keep off of the gas lines, it will soften the rubber.
