transverse and longitudinal?

which phenomenon is associated w transverse waves but not with longitudinal.these are different waves but how then we draw them as sinosodial curve.in sinosodial curve at the peak point or maximum the velocity or acceleration will be zero or not.if in graph curve is moving upward why the particle will be moving downward

Since a sphere cannot have a haircut, there is at
least one direction where two transveres polarizations
have the same speed.
