About WDW Boardwalk: When do street entertainers come out? Any of them kid-friendly? I would like to take my 4-year old boy there for a few hours in the evening - the day of our arrival to Disney World (I don't want to go to the park on that day - we'll be arriving ~ 4pm). Do you think this is a good idea? MouseSavers suggests this as a 'cheap thrill'.

We'll be staying at the Dolphin (part of Swan/Dolphin complex), which I think is pretty close to the boardwalk...

Hi there. We stayed at the Dolphin in Aug.06 and the boardwalk is just a stone's throw from the hotel. Depending on your room location, you may actually be overlooking it. The Boardwalk is great for kids and adults. My 6 1/2 and 2 1/2 had a great time walking this area. Lots to see and always a street performer or two in the evenings. Rent the bikes built for 4 and ride around the entire area.

The entertainment at Boardwalk starts around 6:30 at night. What will be offered just depends on who is there. They usually offer things like jugglers, sword swallowers, etc. During holidays and special events they will have a lot more. For example, the 4th of July on the Boardwalk is a lot of fun with games, activities, music, giveaways, etc. The only way to tell what is going to be offered is to actually go and see what is going on.

The Boardwalk is a lot of fun, there is some great dining, some stores, ESPN Club, etc. So you should be able to find something. The entertainment is fine for kids, depending if you think it is something your son would enjoy.

Whether or not this will be fun will just depend what is offered and if it is something that you will like. The biggest problem is going to be getting there since getting from resort to resort can be a little more time consuming than just going to a park or something.

Another option may be Downtown Disney. They often have live music and things like that. But, there is a lot more shopping and dining to choose from. The World of Disney Store and the Once Upon a Toy Store are a huge hit with the little ones and you can spend a lot of time there, Rainforest Cafe is also something kids enjoy, not to mention the lego store and so many other things.

I've included some links for you to look over.

I hope this gives you a few ideas.
