hi, i just bought comp recently. now noticed that all my usb port is not hi-speed.

its just keep giving me the same msg when i plug my external HD
the error msg is Hispeed inserted into a Non Hispeed..
but i check the device manager
its say mine is usb2.0

i check the bios and its is already on enable status

what could be the problem?
i check all my six usb port..
and they say keep saying it non hispeed..

is there something i forget to do??

i try the external HD on my old com and
its is working fine

is there some kind of drivers i need to get??

Sorry to have to be the one to tell you. If you want true high speed you will have to get a pci usb card. Look for one with pins or header on it so you can add a front usb or card reader.

USB 2.0 comes in two flavours - USB 2 Full Speed which is the same as USB 1.1 (1.5 MB/sec) and USB 2 High Speed (60 MB/sec). In Device Manager, the latter is likely to have an Enhanced PCI to USB Controller.

Any other USB sockets to try? Motherboard chipset driver installed?

Yes i'd say it is a driver issue with the device your connecting. it could need a special driver. try the OEM's website or driverguide.com

have you also tried something simple like a Digital camera? or a webcam?

sometimes if USB root hub controller has stock "microsoft" drivers it can hinder performance. goto START then click on RUN/ then type "DXDIAG" with out the " " and save all information. look throught the .txt file for the usb drivers there date and provider.
