No one knows the real start date, otherwise it would have been all over the internet.
Bungie.net will announce when the official Halo 3 Beta will start!
It will most likely be by the end of May.

you may hire crackdown and dl it, yet then youll want that disc whenever you wanna play the beta. you would be unable to easily put in a diverse crackdown disc that did not have the beta at the start.
