It takes 1 kg of mortar to lay a brick. So you'll need 350kg's of sand and 3.5 25kg bags of cement for a 4:1 ratio.

firstly, you have had some crazy answers.
purchase a tonne of clean building sand, maybe wont need it all, but its cheap and some will be wasted anyway when mixing. REMEMBER its better to look at it, than to look for it!
You should get 10 bags of ordinary portland cement and 5l of mortar mix.
mix your mortar in a mixer, put in a 1/2 bucket of water, about 70ml of mortar mix into each mix. then 3 buckets of sand and 1 bucket of cement. if the sand is wet use less water, 1/2 bucket of water is only a guideline.
by mixing using buckets, the colour and thickness of each mix will remain the same, even on the second and third days and so on.
