I'm just as clueless as you are rotlfmao. I think it's because they plan on rebuilding again.

They got rid of McGahee since he is not a good character player, and didn't put forth full effort every game. He did not enjoy the city, and would not show up for team workouts, since he would rather be by himself in FL, away from the team.
They lost Fletcher since he was going to demand a large paycheck, and is getting older. He is past his prime, and will slowly go downhill, and I doubt the Bills wanted to pay big money to someone who was not going to perform at the level he did when they paid him.
They traded away Spikes since they did not feel he was ever going to return to Pro-Bowl form, and just like Fletcher, did not want to pay him Pro-Bowl money when he was not playing like it. We now have a ton of DT that we can rotate out, and will hopefully have a new linebacker from the draft.
If you think of a positive light, they have done something they haven't done since the suberbowls....they are seriously working on their offensive line. We have an amazing reciever in Lee Evans, and a QB (Losman) who will be pretty good with the better line in front of him, and finally a full year of experiance. We also have a very young defense, and RB are a dime a dozen now. There are only a handful of teams with a single running back, while most have two or more.
There is a good future ahead for the Bills, it might not be this year, but I would expect the Bills to do better than last year.

McGahee was traded for a 3rd and 7th this year and a 3rd next year. He was a player only his reputation from the U and was in the headlines for paternity reports, complaining about his salary, and ultimately bashing the city of Buffalo and the Bills organization. He never produced any better than average. Takeo Spikes was also traded, for Darwin Walker and a 5th? next year? He showed almost no burst after tearing his Achilles tendon last year and was outplayed by 6th-round rookie Keith Ellison. He requested a trade and got it. London Fletcher was great at making tackles 4-yards downfield and making a game-changing play....every 8 games or so. Generally a "game-breaker" makes more than two "game-breaking" plays a year. In short, the problem is with you and your very serious lack of knowledge about the Bills. We have a lot of young guys on the rise, including but not limited to JP Losman, Lee Evans, Chris Kelsay, Angelo Crowell, Keith Ellison, Ko Simpson, and Donte Whitner....

I feel your pain! I've been a die hard Bills fan for a while now. To be totally honest I started liking them back when they went to all the Super Bowls and have been a die hard fan ever since! Trust me there are NOT too many Bills fans in Souther California........
They need a LOT of help! They have lost a lot don't forget about N. Clement. My favorite players were London Fletcher and Takeo Spikes now they are both gone. All I can say is it is a "rebuilding" process. We are replacing those LBs with young players and we should draft a RB. I am NOT a believer in JP Losman and think we should have signed a big name QB. Give them a year or two and HOPEFULLY we will be back in the Playoffs and be a Contender in about 2-3 years! A couple of years to let the young players mature and become Pro Bowlers....
BILLS all the way in 2010!!!!

Obviously Willis McGahee didn't have the reputation nationwide he had here. To those who didn't know, he was a dick. He didn't come to workouts, he didn't remember plays, he whined about the location, he was not a leader. To those who said the Bills had no direction, you're wrong. The team is looking to build a strong team with an actual element of teamwork. They're getting guys that are talented, but only if they are high character and leaders. The team is young now, but give this core 2 years and you'll all be kicking yourselves for not believing.

They don't really have the money for top management or key players....the same problem lots of perennial losers have.
Nor is Buffalo a place where players want to live, work and raise their families for the love of it.
In fact the Bills have done remarkably well over the years, better than most, under the circumstances.
They have great fans.

McGahee sucked. Fletch was old. Spikes asked to be traded/released in February and is a shadow of his former self. I don't get you panicky sky-is-falling idiots. You demand change from the Donahoe era, and then when Marv cleans up his mess, all of a sudden this bunch of players who never got us anywhere is the piece that will cost us the Super Bowl. No wonder why people look down on the Bills, many of my fellow fans don't know a football from a helmet!

It reminds me of the "fire sale" the Florida Marlins had after the 1997 World Series title. They got rid of anybody who was any good. Seems to me thats what Buffalo is doing, except they're doing it without any clear sense of direction of the team. Had they kept the team in tact with a few more pieces added, they could have contended in the tough AFC East. The only thing they'll compete for now is the battle for 3rd place in the division. Spikes has injury problems, so that makes a little sense. You get DT Darwin Walker in return, who is highly underrated and was on a team loaded with D-Line talent. To not resign London Fletcher-Baker was a bad move. He's not the fastest, not the strongest, but he produces at LB and he is durable. They couldn't afford to compete with the 49ers for Clements services, so it was a foregone conclusion he was gone. The McGahee trade baffled me, mainly because they have no one in the backfield to replace him

I live in Buffalo.
I agree with McGahee. When I moved here, it was like I stepped back to 1980 and not in a good way -- in 2001. Definitely hit that "brick wall". Lots of empty run down buildings, lots of just dead areas.
There is nothing to do here. People are leaving all the time. And it sucks. If I could move, I would.
He probably danced on the way out. I know I would.

Im a huge fan too. I think they are trying to be the new Arizona Cardinals. Fletcher was great , that is the worst move of many bad ones this off season . I think that they will be like the 1980's Toronto Maple Leafs , a laughing stock until the owner dies .

I don't know what they are thinking Willis is a stud, and its not like they have a good backup to take over. The owner is to old and doesn't want to spend any money because they are in a very small market. Those superBowls were along time ago find a new team. Course I should talk I'm a Titans fan.
