Men who are controlling and abusive learned it from their childhood. They either learned it from their father mistreating their mother or other male family members abusing their wives and/or children.
These men learned a disrespect for women and that they have to be in control of their household.
Not all men are like that. Men who either gained an understanding of the cycle of abuse or were raised in decent homes are not like that.
Take care,
Troy

Well, looks like u have a serious problem on ur hands. He shouldn't be hitting you or abusing u in anyway. Plus controlling? Honey, that is straight trouble.. I thought I had worse problems, but this tops all of mine. U need to get away from him because he could kill u hands down if he gets so pissed off for no apparent reason. I have relationship problems too, but i will not let it get to that point.

Why are women bitc*y and manipulative? The question goes both ways, but more importantly, not all men or all women are this way. Why do people on here keep judging all men or women by the actions of a few bad apples. There are many wonderful men and women out there who are not controlling, abusive, manipulative or bitc*y. Instead of focusing on one bad person, try to concentrate on finding a good one.

I would ask the same question of you, why are women so controlling and verbally abusive?
You would say, not all women; so I say the same, babe, not all men are idiots.
Well, ... OK, ... maybe we're idiots, but we make good pillows and really do love you back. If you find me abusive, tell me. Like a puppy, I don't know that my teeth hurt so much. I'm only playing a game you started..

Men aren't, your man is. Keep you problems at home. Don't categorize all men this way. If you are living in this environment that is your choice. Make a different choice and get the heck out of there.

There is no simple answer to such a complex question. The important thig is that you protect yourself. If you are in an abusive relationship, please seek help. 1-800-799-7233 is a national 24hr hotline that can provide you with assistance.
If your man is abusive you can not help him by staying in the relationship and you cannot help yourself by remaining in the relationship. Contact a friend, get some clothes, your important papers, some cash and leave, please.

Not all men are. My father was, but my mother divorced him when I was two. Fortunately, I've never been in a relationship like this, and I don't personally know anyone else who has been. I would assume that means it's not as common as most people think.

Not all are - but it seems that if you've found these type men in your past, your bound to keep attracting them. Therapy helps work past all this and be able to find the good ones! Good luck!
