OK first thing you need to know is not to follow all these DIETS and PILLS that these people are suggesting....most of the time diets and pills don't require exercise, and exercise is the key thing in anyone's ATHLETIC carreer to stay fit, lose weight and run faster. What i suggest is running up and down bleachers, it might seem lame and boring but it works. When i was in highschool i spent the entire summer running up and down the bleachers atleast 20 minutes a day, 2 or 3 times a week. I also recommend running a mile atleast once or twice a week. And most importantly, keep pumpin that iron. Do this and i guarantee that you'll lose weight and stay fit while doing so.
Diets and Pills might make you lose weight, but most don't require exercise and you'll just lose weight and get out of shape in the process...so thats a big no no lol.

Last March (2006) I went on a diet and by Oct. had lost 80 lbs. All I did was eat oatmeal for breakfast (or any high fiber cereal), a reasonable lunch, and a small dinner. I also drank lots of water and cut out fried foods. If you need a snack, try fruits or granola bars. This really seemed to knock the weight off fast. 20 lbs. shouldn't be too hard. Good luck!

Ask your doctor if he/she has heard of the "PROTEIN SPARING MODIFIED FAST". It really works, but you have to be under the guidance of your physician. I lost 17 lbs. in 28 days. You are required to take Potassium pills twice a day, calcium pills, a multi-vitamin and Magnesium. It is a very STRICT diet. You CANNOT have any SUGAR, BREAD, PASTA, MILK, but you can have plenty of protein and your veggies are at a minimum (you'd have to take fiber tablets too), but it's worth it (some people expierence leg cramps, but that's why you take the Magnesium). Your blood is checked frequently. My cousin is 5' 2" tall and weighed 260 lbs. In a years time she went down to 125 lbs, has stuck to the diet, and is maintaing her weight. No surgery involved.

The number one no-no if you want to be a great athlete and improve your speed is stop eating the fattening foods. The number one culprit is soft drinks. They'll slow you down and cause you to put the pounds on. If you'll eat plenty of veggies and fruits and work out, you'll be in great shape and increase your speed by August.
