They'll let you return items (for cash) without a receipt about 5 times. They ask for your driver's license and the system keeps track of your returns. Once you reach 5, you will need a receipt for your return, as they will not accept the return with no receipt at that point. Why don't you call them to inquire about this before going?

If you don't have the receipt they will most likely give you a store credit...probably put the amount on a gift card. I would try again to find the receipt just in case the rugs have gone on sale since you bought them because if they have, they will only give you the amount that they currently ring up. And make sure the rugs are still in "new" condition. If they had tags on them or stickers, make sure that you take those with you. Return policies differ from store to store but I think that Wal-Mart probably has the same policy everywhere. I'd definitely return them as soon as possible though just in case they haven't gone on sale and may be going on sale soon. Good luck and hope this helps!
p.s. just thought of something else! make sure you take your driver's license or some other form of i.d.(might want to call them before going if you don't have a driver's license to see what forms of i.d. are acceptable) because one time I tried to return something and even had my receipt but they would not allow me to do this without i.d. and I just didnt' have it with me at the time. They require the i.d. because they keep up with how many times you return things. About a year and a half ago I had a miscarriage and had bought lots of baby items before this happened and I returned them at two or three different times and the third time they told me that I had reached my limit on returning items without a receipt! I don't know if this is something that is a yearly thing or what, but they must have thought that I had stolen them or something and they were trying to keep people from returning stolen merchandise. Sad for the ones of us that are honest and have just lost our receipts!

You can return items without a receipt given
1) They still carry the item in the location you are returning it
2) You must have all original packaging including the UPC code that was on the merchandise
3) You must have a valid state issued ID or Driver's liscense and have not done more than 3 separate unreciepted return transactions in the past 45 days
4) If the store still refuses call 1-800-Wal-Mart...these policies are comapany wide and stores may try to change them but are technically not allowed to deviate from them
And yes, it will be put on a merchandise credit which is valid at any Wal-Mart or Sam's Club in the US

Return them, no receipt needed. Store credit, or cash if under a certain $ amount.... but usually store credit. Never denied. Target, on the other hand.... has the crappiest return policy ever.

I brought stuff back to them and they scanned it and I got a refund. The only problem is if the item is now on sale and the price is lower you will get the lower price without the receipt.

You'll be able to return them as long as you still have the tags on them. You'll get a gift card if it's over $10, and you'll also need to have your license with you if it's over $10.

No reciept will give you instore credit only.
If you get a nasty manager, and the items are dirty, missing tags, or look "used". Without reciept, they will send you packing.

Usually as long as you aren't just trying to get cash back, you can take anything back without a receipt.
Hell, we used to take dead batteries back to walmart and trade them in for new ones:
'I don't know - I took them out of the package and they were already dead!!'
