Babies do not need baths twice a day unless he/she is mud wrestling. Babies do not even need baths everyday. This may dry out the babies skin. If you are really concern a bath everyday or every other day is fine especially if the baby is not getting dirty or around other children all the time. First try once a day. If baby's skin seems to dry easily then try every other day.

baby till they are crawling around don't need bathes more than 2 or 3 times a week at the most, unless they throw up or something. Actually bathing a baby too much will dry out there skin.

No way do they need to bathe that often! As a matter of fact, babies' skin is so sensitive that bathing too often can result in dry skin or rashes from the soaps used. Besides, how much can your little baby really get into that she needs a bath that often? You are right in thinking that that's a bit overkill.

You should only bathe your baby 2-3 times a week or you will dry out her skin

More like two times a week. They get cold in the water most often. Sponge baths should be predominant.

You're right, that much washing will certainly irritate her skin. I have sensitive skin and I can only shower once every two days or risk skin/scalp damage. Babies' skin is MUCH more delicate.

Tell you mom YOUR the mom now and things have changed.

Good Luck :)

No, you don't want to bath a baby twice a day. Your body produces natural oils to keep the skin moisturized. If you wash all of the oils away, your skin will dry out and can become chapped and easy to get infections. When my babies were infants, I gave them a bath very other day unless they vomited on themselves. On the odd day I just sponged them with a damp washcloth.

I always gave my baby's a clean soap and water bath in the diaper area every morning, (who would like to have all that pee sitting on them) and they got a regular bath at bedtime. Doesn't a bath help you to relax and sleep. Sometimes they would need another bath depending on what they did that day. Always wash their hands, everything they touch goes straight into the mouth.

My baby has exzema so she only gets a bath twice a week. I've heard of once a day, but I've never run into anyone who gives baths 2 times a day.

Your mom is way off. You only need to bathe a baby every other day.. even every two days. Otherwise you will dry out their skin.

That much bathing is bad for baby's skin. Every 2-4 days is plenty for a newborn. My daughter is 6 mos. old and still only gets one every other day.
