I am in a production of Steel Magnolias. All of the cast members have different ideas of how the accent should sound, but we're looking for any movies out there with good Louisiana accents for us to study other than Steel Mags. Any ideas? Or do you have any tips on making it sound REAL??? Thanks!!

Okay, I'm a Southerner, and here's the thing: we all sound different depending on where we're from. Even within each state, you will get different sounds from different areas. And most of what you see on tv and in the movies is DRASTICALLY false, lol. I was born and raised on the MS Gulf Coast, but when I was flying back from Denmark, some guys from Alabama were next to me, and they thought I was from Denmark because I had no accent compared to them.

Us Southerners usually get a hysterical laugh at the fake accents Hollywood has created for us.

One person who got it really close, at least for what you might be talking about - even though she wasn't even from the US - was Vivien Leigh in "Gone with the Wind". Also, Kyra Sedgwick is a Southerner who doesn't try to hide it at all like some actors.

Hope this helps.

Just thought of something else. Britney Spears is from Kentwood, LA. Find and watch old reruns of stuff like VH1's '"Behind the Music" and "Before They Were Stars" or other stuff like that. I vaguely remember clips of them being in her hometown and going to the places she frequents there, talking to some of the locals.

For one element a Louisiana accessory isn't a similar a Southern. and not all Louisiana is the same the two. From the place you're you probable have a Cajun accessory that's diverse than say a Georgia or S.Carolina Southern. or maybe non Cajuns have some effect of that. captivating looks to in positive condition. diverse. I stay in ok. and function accepted many from l. a.. and individuals from Il. have their own. mid western accessory which additionally they don't be conscious. yet yours is greater diverse for this reason sizeable.

If you want a real south louisiana accent, banish you all. it now becomes yall. mispronounce words, like when you say ask, pronouce it sort of like axe. Also, add may to things ex: "May that hurts!" Spur a little french in there as well. Also, a bit of improper english works well, but not too much. Good luck!

I am from New Orleans and recently moved to Shreveport. At work I get picked on (in a friendly way) about the way i say words. For example, instead of saying better, i say betta. instead of there, say der. Um, the movie Skeleton Key was filmed in Lafourche Parish and they didnt screw the accnets up too bad.
