I just recently got a pap smear, and after the gynecologist stuck her fingers in me and pressed my lower abdomen area it hurt. It still hurts today, but it didn't hurt before my pap smear. Has anyone experienced anything like this, or have an opinion of what it may be?

Well you may have been a little tense being your first time so your muscles were not as relaxed as they could have been and when they examined you it hurt... causeing you to cramp a little.

It can also just happen, as they are in a way irritateing your cervix and other insides... it will get easier, you just need to relax more.

If you feel that they are to harsh try a different doctor... you don't have to settle on one! Sometimes it takes time to find the one you like and are comfortable with.

I don't think you have anything, but if you do being that you just went in you will find out soon enough! Good luck !!!

Your doctor was probably not doing it right.... LOL

Ok, all jokes aside, you should try another doctor, some doctors are more careful than others. Experience also makes a difference.

It seems like you might want to call the same doctor's office back and explain the situation. You never want to leave open questions like that, you should always express everything to your doctor in as much detail as possible.

You never know what symptoms to look for only the doc. knows and if you don't bring these symptoms to their attention they might go overlooked and you may get misdiagnosed.

Good luck and take care.

Yeah, I have. Most doctors(even females) are not that gentle when performing a pap smear. Just take some Tylenol...you will be ok.

This is completely natural, you may also suppose a few moderate cramping for a few days, the one rationale that you're feeling suffering after the examination is due to the fact the ones muscle groups are most commonly most effective stretched for the duration of being pregnant and childbirth so that's why you're feeling the suffering, due to the fact the ones muscle groups with ease havent been stretched earlier than.

This is normal. You'll be uncomfortable for a while. Don't be shy on telling your gyno she's hurting you, some women are more sensitive than others.
