I guarantee you he understands the hardships of war better... maybe. I don't know. I could imagine for Bush, it's not a happy time reading about the loss of your own soldiers on a daily basis. The boy won't understand the reasons nor the value of the war, after an event like that it's understandable that he hates the war entirely for what it has done to his life.

But he has not studied tactics, methods and techniques of war. So, the child understands it in an uneducated, first hand manner, but the President understands it in a tactical way.
