find a free converter. type in your browser freeware convert avi to mpeg then to can burn it to disc and watch it on any dvd player

it depends on whether you want to make it a PLAYABLE dvd or just a data dvd. if you have a dvd-burner on your computer, what you probably need for either case is a software like nero. let the software know which avi you want to print onto the dvd, and choose either data or playable dvd.
the difference being that a playable dvd would run on almost any dvd player, while a data disc would run almost exclusively on computers only. you would run it with a media player software just like any file on your hard drive.

Actually you can record an AVI to a CD, not a DVD.
Find the AVI in folder, drag it to the CD drive and let Windows do the rest. It will ask you if you want to record it, etc. Just say yes

Well if you want to save it to a DVD-R or DVD+RW then you can either make it so it plays on a DVD Player by using movie creation software whcih usually comes with the computer if it came with a DVD RW Drive or you can just store it and use it on the PC.

It has to be converted 1st to dvd format. I use http://www.winavi.com there is a free trial,give it a go. Im sure there are plenty of freebys out there though.
