The contractions, and the dilation from 8 to 10 cm. known as transition. The pushing stage actually brings some relief, the contractions slow down again and you become an active participant. If you have had no pain meds then the babys head crowning does sting, but that is over with fairly quickly.

The contractions. The baby actually coming out is more of a burning /stretching pain that is over with as soon as the baby is delivered. The contractions are the worst pain I have ever known.

Well I got an epidural so I didn't really feel the pain of the baby coming out. But I had several hours of hard labor before I got it, and IT HURT BAD! The contractions are extremly painful (for me anyway) And my mom told me that pushing wasn't that bad.....

I thought the contractions were pretty bad, but I got an epidural in both of my pregnancies so I didn't have to deal with contractions for very long. The epidural....now THAT hurt the most, when they stuck that huge needle in my spine.

Pushing the baby out doesn't hurt, but it is extremely tiring. I only pushed for about 10 minutes with both of my children and I felt like I was going to die of exhaustion. I don't see how women can push for hours and hours....

When baby's head goes to 0 station, and it descended into the birth canel and before the show, when is when baby is crowning, you feel like you're tearing apart and begging the OBGYN to do an episiotomy. Unlike other mothers, I didn't think the contractions hurted much.

Contractions weren't so bad for me, it's pushing that head out that hurt alot. But just when I thought the worst of it was over after the baby came out.... the doctor pushes on your stomach to get all that sack out that the baby was in. That hurt more then the pushing part.
But don't worry when that baby is in your arms it is all worth it. And your forget the exact pain in a few months, sure you still remember it hurts you just can't remember the exact pain.

When I had my first baby I didn't have a problem with the contractions, they tell you to start pushing and the only time I started screaming was when the baby's head moved down and you feel this ring of fire and you have to push through that feeling, once the baby is through all the pain basically goes away unless you have complications afterward. The contractions feel like really really really strong period cramps, but when you feel the ring of fire that is when you feel the most pain.

The contractions were a nightmare, but the burning that comes with baby coming out is no treat either...

The cpontractions were horrible fior me, I was only in labor for 2 hours, so my body did all the work in a short time and it hurt really bad. The pushing wasnt bad, it actually relieved some of the pain, but I did get snipped and that actually made me yelp.
