My name is Moira (also Gaelic). I used to absolutly hate it cause no one said it right. When i was in first grade i convinced my teacher that my name was maggie. it worked until my mom came to parent/teacher night and couldn't find my desk. People still don't say it right but I have come to expect it and used it to my advantage in school (if the teacher said my name wrong I would tell them one time the first day of school and after that I wouldn't answer, I learned their name they should have learned mine.) The meaning of mine didnt change my opinion of it is just realized it was mine and it was different and i liked that.

I didn't like my name my entire childhood. I was that child that was always in trouble for not telling the teacher what my real name was. Everyone always thought my name was short for something. Then I got older. I liked being the only person with my name. Everyone that used my name had it only because it was a nickname. By the way I'm Kiki DeLainie. Mom named me after a singer that used to sing with Elton John, Kiki D. Oddly enough my sisters got the normal names, Serena and *Terri Nicole.* She was my parents final try at a boy and got my dad's first name. She actually lucked out because her middle name was going to be Clinton. (Then she would probably be typing about not liking her name...HAHA)

Yes this did happen to me. My name is Kendall and I thought it was a boy name but then I found out I was named after my 2 grandfathers middle names. (Kenneth and Randall)I love them so I am fine with it now. But people make fun of me because I am a girl w/a dude name. I just ignore it because I love my name!

My father also calls me Mary Jean, an half my family
My mother called my Jeanne, so does half my family
I never mind Mary Jean, but hate when people calls me Mary.
If I get a phone call asking for Mary, It's nobody I know

You have a beautiful name.. I love my name but there was a time when I did not because it is different and everyone mis-pronounces it. Now I have a hard last name to so it is kind of a pain to have to spell my first and last name...
Shana Jean Hendrikse
Pronounced=
Shane-a Jean Hendrix

My name is Rhiannon (pronounced Re-ann-in) it is welsh and in Celtic mythology Rhiannon was a goddess. When I was younger I hated it. Almost everyone pronounced it wrong. But now I like it because it is unique. I am 25 years old and have only met one Rhiannon so far.

I have not ever had the feeling that I didn't like my name...I just wanted to change the spelling. Ashley is how ma & pa spelled it...I wanted to change it to Ashleigh. The meaning of it is "beautiful meadow" so unless I just take that and say in means pretty and serene....I don't know if that is a compliment ot not!

Yes and that's why I changed it. At times "Hey ? where's Tarzan can grow a bit old.; on top of that you get all the yells, like they're trying to summon a herd of elephants, yet the meaning was very pleasant, to me it just sounded so plain.

My name is Esther, as a kid I always hated it because its very old fashioned. /now I'm proud to have such an honorable biblical name. The story of Esther in the Bible is an awesome one though I don't think I would have that kind of courage.

i still don't really like my name. my naem is Amanda Noelle. i dislike my first name so much because it is so common!! and it means various versions of beloved or worthy of love or love of all creatures. whihc granted is not so bad, but i just don't like it very much!! i love my middle name, if people would stop saying Christmas!!! it means joy, not Chritmas!! originally Noelle was going to be my first name, but they changed their minds and decided they liked that boston song a lot.....
the only reason i like my name is that my fiance thinks it is very fitting for me, and that it's beautiful. honestly, though i'm not too partial to it, i couldn't see myself named anything else.
